polite.ai answers your phone with AI agents you create by describing what you want to happen — no prompt engineering, no integration project, no telecoms knowledge. You explain the job in a chat; the Builder designs the agents, wires them together, and puts them live on a real UK number.
The pieces
- Agents and teams. An agent is one AI with a job — answering as your front desk, taking bookings, qualifying callers. Agents work in teams: a receptionist can hand a caller to a specialist, bring in a human, or quietly ask a colleague agent to look something up mid-call.
- The Builder. Where teams are made. You chat on the left, and the team graph draws itself on the right. Test in the browser, then Go live when you're happy — see Meet the Builder.
- Numbers. Agents answer real phone calls on numbers you buy in the dashboard — currently UK numbers — or on numbers you already own. Browser calling works without any number at all.
- Knowledge. Agents answer from your website and documents, so they talk about your business, not generalities — see Knowledge bases.
- Calls. Every call keeps its recording, transcript, and a feed of what the agent actually did — inspect any call after the fact.
- Credit. Calling is prepaid at one all-in per-minute rate that covers the AI model, the voice and the telephony. When credit runs out, calls stop — you can never owe us money.
What agents can do on a call
Answer and greet callers the way you specified. Take real calendar bookings, and let callers move or cancel them. Transfer to your team — including warm transfers where the agent briefs the human first — and take the call back afterwards to finish the paperwork. Email a summary of every captured call to your team. Read and act on your business knowledge. Accept keypad input when a caller would rather press than say. Place outbound calls where you've enabled them.
What every agent promises
Politeness is the product. Every agent discloses that it's an AI, never takes card numbers on a call, and hands over to a human the moment that's the better answer — the full set of guarantees is in What every agent promises your callers.
Want to hear it before you build anything? Ring the demo number on our home page — a polite.ai agent answers, explains the product, and can put you on the waitlist by voice.
Under the hood, if you care
The platform core is open source (MIT) and the full editor and API sit underneath the Builder, so nothing you build is locked in — see Open source & no lock-in. If you'd rather start building, start with the Quickstart.
